American West + Adventure Theme Nursery Inspo

I started looking for inspiration for our nursery at the end of 2018, as soon as we had cleared the first trimester and knew the sex of the baby. (Thanks, required genetic screening!) We quickly settled on an American West + Adventure nursery theme. An upscale version, of course.

Baby G.’s Nursery Reveal

One thing I knew for sure: I didn’t want to design a nursery that was too cute or too juvenile (if you know my sense of style, you’ll understand why). Once I really started looking, I was stoked to find so many cute neutral-to-masculine options that fit my global / modern / vintage vibe.

Thankfully, I was able to re-use a number of things we already had laying around the house. The dresser turned changing table has been in my family for YEARS. A fresh coat of paint and new hardware brought in the vintage vibe I’ve been loving lately. The mirror and and large scale Be Brave print were also holdovers from a previous life. Sometimes it pays to be a hoarder… I knew I’d use them someday!

I am over the moon with how this nursery turned out. If hard-pressed, I’d have to say my favorite elements are: (1) the tree stump side table, (2) the tassel light fixture, and (3) the bear rug.

Coral Inspiration - Fall 2010

So, I don’t think I’ve said anything about this yet, but I’m toying around with the idea of moving. And this coral inspiration just kind of perfectly represents what I would love in a room right now. It’s so happy! And refined. You know, if I moved, I’d probably have more than one room, and then I could have more than one design concept and palette. Right?!

Can’t envision how these colors would work in a room? Don’t worry, living room moodboard forthcoming. I think the scariest part about this palette is the mint green. I can’t tell if it’s a good kind of reach or just um. crazy.

Regardless, I am totally crazy for this imagery right now. lovelove.

Hot Color, Hot Theme – Peacock Blue

24 February 2008

We all know that jewel tones are so “right now”. What’s more, the similar “snorkel blue” has been chosen by Pantone as a have-to-have color for Spring 2008. It’s always interesting to see how these colors work their way into interior design… After my trip to Cost Plus, where I purchased a peacock blue jute […]
