  2. Recently sold this vest on Poshmark, and have got a lot of other goodies up for sale too…if you have an iphone, check it out!
  3. I love the idea of this lens.
  4. I’ve been trying coconut oil on my skin for about a week now, and it’s awesome. Totally recommend it if you have severely dry skin, like me. The only drawback is I smell like food.
  5. Did I mention I make the best pigs in a blanket ever? I was not into the whole football thing this year {spent super bowl Sunday catching up on blogs and watching Lost} but that is one thing that I definitely feel like I missed out on.
  6. This is the cutest DIY I’ve seen in awhile. I would love to have a pair of these!
  7. I’m not sure I shared this with you guys since I’ve been a little MIA, but I got 2 tattoos last month! My first ever! And they are awesome; I totally feel a little more bad-ass. Huzzah!

  10. I’ve started playing the stock market. For me, it’s so far exactly like gambling. Look at the money as a sunk cost, that way you won’t be too sad if you lose it. Gotta love the big wins though. Play on, player.

  1. Annual holiday party with the girls resulted in the most impromptu, legitimate, uplifting rendition of Wilson Phillips “hold on”. It was pure happiness. Girl power!
  2. 6 week shopping hiatus started last Wednesday. I usually do a 4 week challenge, so adding 50% to that should be interesting. Be prepared for a lot more lust lists as I ease my shopping woes!
  3. Avoid social comparison.
  4. Currently averaging 1 workout/week. Better than 0…
  5. Currently discovering a lot of new-to-me blogs through twitter. I’m loving it!
  6. I have *always* been terrible with change. Up this week: best friend moving, and a new roommate.
  7. I am overwhelmed with the show of sincerity, love and support from this weekend’s holiday party.
  8. Settling in to my new ‘d0 and loving it. The color makes my skin look warmer. Not washed out at all, the way I was feeling before.
  9. People who treat marriage as a secret society or a club make me crazy. {eye roll.}
  10. I don’t know why I lose respect for bloggers when they move out of careers into full-time blogging because you think it would be the opposite. I do find small business fascinating though, and sometimes it sounds splendid! I bet my blog would be 4 times as nice if I could spend 40 hours a week on it instead of 10. This is in direct conflict with #3. Oh, the irony.

{my closet: one true love.}
  1. This weekend was a whirlwind! I went to my very first tattoo shop and it was so much fun hat I can’t wait to go back!
  2. I sold 3 quilts at the Artsy Holiday Gift Show and Lila almost sold out of wine glass tags. Plus, I got a totally adorable new necklace. #Winwin, I say.
  3. Christmas music is in FULL SWING here in the 94402. Growing up, my favorite album was always “a country christmas”. I’ve since developed my, uh, tastes, but it still has a place in my heart.
  4. Fact: I showed up with a suitcase last night to Q’s. Only mildly embarrassing, but shoes take up a lot of space, okay! Current thinking is that if I have more stuff at his place then I won’t be so stressed out with being a bag lady all the time.
  5. I paid a lot of money for a html/css class that I totally let pass me by. It was an eight week course, and I’ve only done the first week of material. Hoping after I get past the holiday rush I can spend some time with it. #fail. Talk about biting off more than you can chew.
  6. I may be behind on the times here, but I was shocked to hear about the scandal that rocked the fashion blogosphere.
  7. Any bay area bloggers planning on going to this Madewell thing on Thursday? Holler at your girl. I’m planning on going, but loathe going to events like this by myself!
  8. I love helping people get organized, even though my room is rarely “organized” myself {read: clothes explosion}. {I also always have a beverage on the nightstand.} In the new year I plan to add a feature to my list of services that’s called “Closet Takeover”. Such fun! Stay tuned!
  9. I’ll be listing some new stuff in the poshmark app soon. Some of it has made appearances on the blog at one time or another. Recent shopping binge has made it abundantly apparent that I need to empty my closet. I’m kind of emotionally attached to clothes, so we’ll see how it goes.

  1. Can I have someone do my makeup every day please? I am becoming obsessed with having glowing skin. In fact, it’s the whole reason I got started on changing my hair {see #9}.
  2. I have been notified that it is not essential to write 10 lessons every week. Some weeks I might try 5. Just because people might like brevity anyway. Plus, I’m gonna be real with you; they are getting harder and harder to write. SURELY I haven’t learned all my lessons at the ripe old age of 29?
  3. Would like to try a bit of a social experiment. I’d like to see how people describe me. I can describe how I see myself, and I can posit how I THINK others would describe me, but I wanna know for sure. 3 words that describe me. READY? GO.
  4. Carlina, I’m thinking about buying 3 of your items on Poshmark. Is that creepy? It feels a LIL BIT single white female, right? You’ve got some cute stuff listed, lady!
  5. Someone commented at work today that I have been receiving an awful lot of packages lately. Woooops. It’s that dang amazon prime {and stitchfix, and quilts for the artsy gift show this weekend from Abby and Monica}. Definitely kind of embarrassed that people may think I’m a totally frivolous spender. But then again, I’m a single lady with some disposable income. I can spend it how I want!
  6. Favorite tweet of the week: Cyber Monday > Black Friday > Hell > Walmart on Black Friday. Hah. This is probably funniest if you work in retail.

  8. Retail Rule: Under promise and over deliver. My j. crew order was back-ordered until 12/5. I got a notice today that it shipped, and I was practically gleeful!
  9. More of a new update than a lesson: I dyed my hair on a whim tonight {see photo}! I can be the most painfully risk averse person, EXCEPT when it comes to my hair. All about it. Remind me to tell you the story about my 8th grade ‘do later.

  5. I am in a completely satisfying and interestingly complex relationship with a really wonderful man. He also happens to be badass. {see above.}
  6. Project mode! After finally finding the perfect space to work, I am inspired, I am driven, I am creating and it makes me so happy.
  7. When I feel most accomplished/proud: when successfully problem solving; when I get to cross something off a list; after overcoming obstacles or conquering fears; in seeing hard work pay off; in making people happy; in being a good listener.
  8. I put a wacom tablet on my xmas wish list! eeee!

  1. Well guys, I’ve taken a bit of a blogging hiatus to become a wordpress/blog guru. {not sure if you knew that.}{it’s not going SO well.} I’ll be back to frequent posting soon, just bear with me on the lightness for awhile.
  2. As it turns out, throughout the course of my life I’ve put a lot of energy in to being unemotional. Or pretending not to be anyway. Some would say this is why I have an auto-immune disease…I internalize everything and the stress has to go somewhere. Not sure on that one. But what a novel idea: Hey, it’s okay to be upset. To cry. To feel like something’s a big deal when it might not quite be. Sometimes it’s important to remember that.
  3. Discovered: I am very bad at planning outfits for myself under a deadline. What I choose wear each day is a pretty organic process…a process that usually happens right before I fall asleep at night or when I’m standing in my closet looking for something to wear.
  4. Wedding season is officially over!
  5. Don’t ever return a dress late to Rent the Runway. Big mistake. Huge.
  6. Love coconut flavor. Not so much into the texture. Same with pineapple.
  7. I got to play call of duty with my brother this weekend, it was so fun! Love you Matt!
  8. I have a surprise for you guys coming soon. Hint: it has to do with Poshmark! Have you heard of it? I made my first purchase today – a Prada bag…eeee! It’s soooo cute!
  9. I am so excited about my little website redesign! I can’t wait to get creative. So far, I’m only 1 chapter in but I totally recommend the Girl’s Guide to Web Design. VERY easy to follow.

  2. I used to think I was a perfectionist. I know now that I’m not the sort of person who does anything, let alone a few things, perfectly. I do a lot of things pretty decently. Probably part of the reason why I feel torn between a million obligations all the time!

  4. I’m looking for an inspirational playlist to jam to when I’m getting my creative on. Suggestions?
  5. The fact that at 29, some semblance of high school drama has returned to my life is RIDICULOUS. People need to grow up and get lives. Srsly.
  6. Highlighter yellow obsession continues. How fabulous would these Jeffrey Campbell wedges be on my feet?
  7. I don’t really get emotionally attached clothing. My general rule of thumb is if you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it {i.e. donate it}. But I love the idea of saving some of my clothes to give to people I love when they’re vintage and fabulous. {The clothes, not the people.}
  8. What happened to the positive community that was the blogosphere? Check out Get off my Internets, but be prepared to be appalled. I’m not even going to link to it because I don’t want to give it more credit than it’s worth.

  1. Today was the first day it kind of felt like Fall to me. The sun went down earlier, the weather was crisp and clear. Makes me want to bundle up and hold hands, take a walk where the leaves turn, and sip on some of this.
  2. We’re having a slumber party for my birthday! Complete with Wii dance games, movies, and sweets from the infamous Ms. Buendia.
  3. Joann’s is the slowest online store ever. I might be spoiled by my *slight* obsession with Amazon Prime, but I’ve discovered another one of the many perks of having a car: being able to go to the fabric store on a whim? {danger.}
  4. CONGRATS to my beautiful friends Lindsay and Charlie. Simply gorgeous wedding.
  5. Even after all these years, still addicted to Lifetime movies. So bad, but sooo good. The Bling Ring, anyone? Anyone?
  6. I should have been asleep 2 hours ago.
  7. The whole Missoni/Target debacle blows my mind. People are now charging more on Ebay for these Missoni for Target pieces than ACTUAL Missoni pieces. In related ridculousness, you can buy these rainboots and pay for someone’s college education. Creative?
  8. Of course Kendi’s shop is just as sweet as can be.
  9. In college, I spent some time {more time than I should have, actually} learning how to read palms.
  10. I hate unpacking. It really takes all of 2 minutes, but could take me 5 days to get to it.{Related: my room is a disaster.}
