I’ve been using Bloglovin’ for a couple of months now and considering I was such a die hard Google Reader fan, I’m pretty impressed. The biggest perk? The design is much easier for scanning content, which is a big time saver! From the summary page, I can see at a glance  {via headline and image thumbnail} what posts I might be interested in.

I’ve been looking for a new plain white tee for at least 2 years. Seriously. At least once week I think, “You know what would go great with xyz outfit?”

The answer is always a plain white tee.

It’s not that they’re difficult to find, I just have a hard time spending money on the basics. They’re so un-fun to buy. No rush, no thrill of the chase, you get what I’m saying. Despite that, I AM pleased with my new plain white tee, thanks for asking. I find Alternative Apparel clothing has a great quality and weight. And I like the cut of this sleeveless tee quite a bit, too!

I added some spice with 3 different style necklaces: minimalist, tribal, and glamorous. Tough hardware on the bag. Extra interest with the printed pants — snakeskin — but they almost read as a neutral. The lucite heel isn’t bad to look at, either. All in all, this outfit looks tame from far away, but has some pretty rad elements once you get down to the details.

After a fun-filled weekend in SD celebrating Alison getting hitched {congrats Ali & Shaun!}, I was feeling super nostalgic. It must have translated into my wardrobe because the first thing I made a reach for Monday morning was my red keds. I’ve been kicking around in these for a month or so, but this is the first appearance they’ve made on the blog. Obviously, they fit my comfy criteria. But I’ve also discovered recently that I LOVE RED and I love it most in small doses. It really is the perfect accent, adding a classic pop of color to almost any outfit.

Do you guys subscribe to the theory that if you lived through a trend the first time, you shouldn’t participate the second time around? How do you feel about Keds?

I could say that I really wanted these bomb.com floral heels to steal the show, but the truth is that I am in DESPERATE need of doing laundry and all that’s left are the basics. The leftovers. The things that make you stand in front of your closet and go hmmm. So this is what we ended up with.

Print mixing tips:

This is a good beginners’ outfit for print mixing. If you’re intrigued by the concept, but think that mixing prints is just a  little too out there, try this option before you dismiss it completely! Pick your main print as one that is low contrast and/or a smaller print. That way, it’ll serve more as a neutral and feel less overwhelming. Then add a pop of color or a bold flashy print in a smaller dose, like these floral heels. Work appropriate, but still lots of fun!

Last night was the San Francisco ‘City Chic’ Posh Party! Instead of opting for a dress, I decided to do what I do best. Which is some combination of casual/boho/edgy/eclectic. Yep, I’m seriously wearing heart shaped sunglasses AND a turban. Whatever — I ain’t mad at it.

It was so great to spend some time away from the office with coworkers and meet Poshmarkers from all over the Bay Area in an absolutely stunning location. Also refreshing: having a change of scenery for these photos. Am I right?

T-Shirts with words are a thing. You’ve probably noticed by now.

Polite as Fuck is yet another Pinterest find. When I saw it I dismissed it, because I thought, “There is no way I can wear this.” Totally impractical, for one. Probably offensive, for two. It showed up in my feed again a few days later, and I thought, “Well why not?” It’s hilarious, first of all. And ironic. Because I actually am a pretty polite person. Though if you know me really well, you might describe me more as brutally honest than polite. Six of one, half dozen of another.

Talk about a wardrobe remix — everything in this post down to the kimono top is old school. Because it’s not sparkly and new, I wasn’t super enthused about the look. But, it IS everyday Kate. And a rad photo filter didn’t hurt either.

It’s no secret that I like my clothes at least a little loose and flowy. Skin tight clothes freak me out in the last couple of years — except jeans, of course. You won’t catch this kid wearing a bandage dress any time soon, that’s for sure! Tight = uncomfortable. This kimono style top fits with my philosophy of relaxed and fidget-less, so it remains a standby in a closet in constant rotation.

Totally obsessing over this bleached denim chambray shirt from ASOS. I love the cut and fit, the seaming and snaps, and how easy it feels. In fact, I took it for a test drive Sunday, and then wore it again on Monday. {Should I admit that?}

My weekend was filled with lots of delightful things: reading, meditation, meeting some sweet baby chicks, farmers’ markets, sample sales, and even a movie date. And of course, lots of cooking. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that for the last couple of months I’ve been on a new diet for the crohn’s. It’s a hell of a lot of work, but I feel better, so it’s hard to complain about it.

Really, it means that food has become a MUCH BIGGER priority in my life that it ever has been in the past. I have to dedicate time to meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking for myself {which is something I pretty much loathe doing — feels like such a waste of time to cook for one person}. Anyhow, lots of cooking every weekend now.

Also, I decided that I’m going to bring back Little Lessons. Stay tuned!

Just in case you thought that bloggers never wear the same thing twice: I wore this shirt last week and thought I was happy with the styling until I remembered I had this navy vest. Then I promptly decided my outfit was subpar compared to the vision in my head. So a few days later, I wore the top again, styled in a completely different way.

Can we talk about the vest? Yes? Okay. Impulse purchase from STYLE/STALK that I couldn’t quite figure out how I was going to work into my wardrobe, but you know I’m a sucker for a good vest. I immediately loved the structure and detail and minimalistic vibe. I was nervous about it being one size fits all, but I like my clothes on the looser side anyhow, so rolled the dice and clicked buy. So happy that I did!
