Flatter your Figure: How to Minimize a Large Chest *Part I of III*

November 27th, 2007 · No Comments

A good friend of mine came to me recently and said, “Help…I can’t find anything to wear to work…I don’t like anything…nothing fits the way that I think it should.”

Make no mistake, it is harder to find that perfect top when you have to dress for your chest, but it definitely NOT impossible. Here are a few tips I’ve come across on how to find work-perfect, boob-minimizing attire.

Blouses:

  • Best sleeve lengths: Cap Sleeves, 3/4 length sleeves, long sleeves.
  • Best necklines: Scoop neck or V-neck. Skin exposure will break up the drama. Wrap tops/sweaters are also a good choice - they completely eliminate the uni-boob look.
  • Best colors/Patterns: Solid and darker. Light colors emphasize a large chest.
  • Best shape: Fitted (but not skin tight) - darts are your friend!
  • Other do’s: Small lapels and collars.

Check out a few examples here:

Charter Club Cashmere Surplice V-neck Sweater in Tomato, www.macys.com, SALE! $89.99; Xhilaration Scoop Neck Tunic in Charcoal Heather, www.target.com, $12.99; YaYa Aflalo Clark sweater in Onyx Silver, www.shopbop.com, $345

And some great information on Don’ts:

Definite Don’ts

  • Large prints
  • Horizontal stripes
  • Pockets anywhere near the chest area
  • Big collars

Stay tuned for Parts 2 & 3 - jackets and dresses to come!
