So the beanie might have been overkill, but summer in SF is no joke. Srsly.
I’ve partnered with Lila of Lingering Daydreams to style her event series this year. And the event at hand this month was an oyster and champagne party {holy yum}.
But think about it. An oyster and champagne party. Outside. In July. In SF. In theory, it might as well have been December, but I digress. {It was actually lovely, and we had a supremely large pile of quilts to keep us warm.}
Lila’s original inspiration was an oversized cardigan and slouchy beanie. But for hosting an event {albeit a casual backyard party}, we needed to elevate the look a little bit. The belt cinches in the waist, and the leggings keep the silhouette slim. A bold lipstick is the perfect contrast and finishing touch to the all-neutral look.
You know I’m into outfits with leggings these days and I totally dig this outfit. I’ll be posting a leggings how-to soon, so check back for more!

One of my favorite things to do is to spend an afternoon cruising Valencia in the Mission. Wandering in and out of local shops, snacking on some seriously amazing food, and finding hidden gems makes me happy. This top is one such hidden gem — a vintage piece from Afterlife — on the hanger it pretty much looked like a muumuu. Looks can be deceiving and I bought it anyway; I’ve been loving it ever since.
Vintage style is not typically my thing, but I’ve found that if you mix a vintage piece with something modern {like bleached denim and ankle boots} it somehow takes the granny out of the vintage style piece.
Also: I have this weird thing going on in my closet where 90% of my tops graphic tees. I mean, I know they’re cool, but it feels pretty juvenile. So, I’m on the hunt to diversify my collection.
