Curly Girl Product Guide

by Kate Franco on January 20, 2013 · 2 comments

I am guilty of dropping major cash on my hair; but after having pretty much what I consider terrible hair until the time I was 25, I do whatever I can to keep it looking good. I am blessed with an amazing stylist who knows JUST what to recommend. Note: this post is purely product recommendations, for a step-by-step tutorial on styling, see my original curly girl post.

The details:

Kevin Murphy hydrate me shampoo and conditioner. Gentle and moisturizing and perfect for curly hair. I actually only wash my hair a couple of times a week, but I condition it every day {see tutorial}.

The details:

Deva Curl Set it Free. Regardless of hairstyle, I always start my process by spraying all over with Set it Free. I do this as soon as I get out of the shower, and after I finish my styling process to set the curl {see tutorial}.

Unite Eurotherapy Scruncha Gel: perfect for VOLUME, if you’ve got lots of short layers {like I used to have!} or want to amplify your look.

Unite Eurotherapy Boing Curling Cream: this is a heavier cream and doesn’t lend itself to volume, but it does nicely shape curls without feeling sticky, greasy, or crunchy {the worst!}.

Davines Momo Moisturizing Curl Serum: this is what I am currently using as I am growing out my hair, and it’s surprisingly lightweight. My hair feels totally natural, but the curls stay defined. Love this product!

Prenatal Vitamins are great for stimulating hair growth. Honestly, I felt mildly weird buying them the first time, but quickly got over it.

Biotin is another awesome supplement. This is the one I have been most diligent about taking, and friends swear my hair is growing faster. I prefer the Hercules brand, which I first discovered on Opensky.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment. Cute packaging aside, this one is relatively unvetted since I just started using it a couple of days ago. I was persuaded to buy after reading some blogger recommendations, even though it kind of sounds like a crock. Think of it as fertilizer for hair!
