Finally, a trend I can really get behind. I think just about every post I’ve written in the last year has highlighted the fact that I’m obsessed with looks that are casual, comfortable and most importantly, easy. I don’t like anything contrived. And I definitely don’t like feeling like I’m trying too hard. So, when I teamed up with DSW to talk about spring trends, I was all about this athleisure deal. You know, the sporty-meets-chic, casual trend that is so popular right now.
The idea was to create an original look using high top converse. And honestly, if I had my way, I would have worn them with some super sassy cutoffs for some extra edge. Sadly, the weather had other plans in mind – April showers and all. I’m not mad at the faded black jeans, and the vest was an impulse because I felt like I needed more layers.
More about DSW: Just in case you’ve never shopped at DSW (how is that possible?!), they have just about every shoe option a girl – or guy – could ask for, including all of the major seasonal trends.
If you’re specifically looking to get into sporty chic, look no further. Some of my DSW must-haves of the season are: slip-on sneakers, retro joggers, high tops, and sporty sandals. And of course, I’m stoked that my long-time favorites, Birkenstocks are right on-trend.
At DSW, we believe in the power of shoes, and in the power of shoe lovers. With thousands of fresh styles for men, women, and children, we’ve got something for everyone, no matter who they are or how they dress. Shoes say a lot about you. Say something great.

This may be the most extreme example of oversized, and I’m loving it. I bought this dress on Poshmark, and when I first pulled it out of the box at #PMHQ, we were all shocked! We held it up, and both Maria AND myself could fit behind it, no problem. Even I (queen of loose fitting things), was skeptical that it would work.
Once I tried it on though, it was love. Comfy and roomy. The only downside is that it has to be worn with pants. It’s a plaid shirt more than it’s a plaid dress. When I tried it on as a dress, I felt like it just looked like I forgot to put on pants. lol. It was not a good look! I dunno, maybe I’ll give it another try. I’d love to see how other people styled it!

It’s a blogger explosion! With something close to a dozen bloggers at #PMHQ these days, we decided to team up again for a fun style challenge. From basics like sneakers and sweats to sports bras and leather, we did it all, inspired by the athleisure trend that’s been blowing up everywhere. You can join the style challenge at the bottom of this post, and share your look via Facebook, Twitter and Insta with #HowWeWear.
Personally, I like my leather with a side of sporty — this is a pretty typical go-to outfit for me these days. Both the leather moto pants (Vince) and the clubmasters (Ray-Ban) were MAJOR scores on Poshmark. I had been wanting a pair of clubmasters for about a year, so I finally gave into the urge when I saw these 51mm with flash lenses up for sale at a good price, I knew I had to snag them. It was meant to be! Now wearing them on repeat, of course. The Nikes too. Somehow, leopard and neon pink seem to go with just about everything.
So it turns out I’m a big fan of this silhouette: slim midi skirt with tall heeled boots. I always thought it was maybe a little too polished for me, but adding the leather jacket gave the look just the right amount of grunge/edge. The fringe on the Isabel Marant boots doesn’t hurt either. This […]
So, believe it or not, this was my New Year’s Eve outfit. No dress, no sequins, no glitter, no glam. Writing that, this outfit sounds anticlimactic, but we just had a comfy dinner at home with friends. At least I thought that’s what was planned! It turned into a bunch of shenanigans, and after the party, […]
