American West + Adventure Theme Nursery Inspo

I started looking for inspiration for our nursery at the end of 2018, as soon as we had cleared the first trimester and knew the sex of the baby. (Thanks, required genetic screening!) We quickly settled on an American West + Adventure nursery theme. An upscale version, of course.

One thing I knew for sure: I didn’t want to design a nursery that was too cute or too juvenile (if you know my sense of style, you’ll understand why). Once I really started looking, I was stoked to find so many cute neutral-to-masculine options that fit my global / modern / vintage vibe.

Thankfully, I was able to re-use a number of things we already had laying around the house. The dresser turned changing table has been in my family for YEARS. A fresh coat of paint and new hardware brought in the vintage vibe I’ve been loving lately. The mirror and and large scale Be Brave print were also holdovers from a previous life. Sometimes it pays to be a hoarder… I knew I’d use them someday!

I am over the moon with how this nursery turned out. If hard-pressed, I’d have to say my favorite elements are: (1) the tree stump side table, (2) the tassel light fixture, and (3) the bear rug.

Falling Back in Love with SF

It’s a good thing I like to write…I woke up this morning and my tongue is…swollen for lack of a better word. Hard to eat, talk, etc. Good times. Anyhow, loads of inspiration this morning, starting via email from my mom, who recommended I immediately check out this general contracting firm. So I did, and here’s what I found.

These are all homes in or around SF. Can you believe it? I was reminded of when Abbs came to visit a couple of weeks ago, and took a bunch of pictures of buildings in my neighborhood. To self: “oh yeah…there are pretty, pretty things here!” So then I really went on a hunt. [click to continue…]
