The Hunt: The Cure For Outfit Envy

The Hunt iPhone fashion app

Today, one of my new favorite sites, The Hunt, is officially launching their new iPhone app. Hooray! And after a peek around, I have to say that the design looks pretty cool. It’s got a clean feeling and is easy to navigate. I’m a huge fan of black and white design with color used sparingly. {I’m actually working on a site redesign for myself that uses a lot of black and white!} The concept is, of course, the same:

Upload a picture of the product youre looking for and The Hunt community will find it.

Essentially, you can crowdsource your shopping quest to find a specific item or a look for less. The Huntfashion app is the cure for outfit envy!

Proficient in the ways of the Interwebs? Spend a few minutes trying to hunt down a piece for a fellow user — but I’m warning you, it’s addicting. One minute you’re hopping onto a site looking for a pair of foldover combat boots for a fellow Hunter and the next thing you know a half hour has gone by! Orrrrr, maybe that’s just me.

Check out the app in action. On the left are some trending hunts — total eye candy. On the right are some of the hunts I’ve started recently. I’d really love it if someone could help me find that bag! In the last couple of months I have made two successful purchases out of the four hunts I’ve started. Pretty awesome ratio for a search that required no effort on my part.

If you’re looking for new, fun fashion apps, this is one to check out! The appis available for iPhone and it’s 100% FREE! You can find me {as always} as Kate Franco.

GET THE APP HERE!

BeauCoo Does Real Girl Style

by Kate Franco on October 6, 2013 · 0 comments

Working at the intersection of fashion+tech I am always interested in learning about what new companies are doing and how they’re bringing these two very different worlds together. When I heard about BeauCoo, I immediately knew I needed to share it with you guys; our ethos are so similar.

As a stylist, my goal is to help my clients feel good. It sounds cheesy, but when you are wearing something you love, you shine. That radiance is immediately recognizable. Moreover, I’m a firm believer that everyone should put their best foot forward.

Enter BeauCoo: They can help you do that! BeauCoo a social network where you can evolve and share your own style. But it’s more than that, too…

BeauCoo & The meaning of Body Positivity (#BoPo) from BeauCoo on Vimeo.

Hands down, the best thing about BeauCoo is that it’s a BODY POSITIVE {#BoPo}community. What does that mean? It means that no matter what your dress size, chest size, shape, style or age, you can find REAL GIRL inspiration to explore, define, {and redefine} your own style. This site is not about models or fashion magazines. It’s about real life. It’s about every girl.

Beaucoo a place for women to be happy and feel good about themselves, and that’s an idea I can totally get behind. Plus, it’s way fun to scroll through pages and pages of people rockin’ it out, doin’ their thing, really representing personal style. Ready to check it out?

So, how does BeauCoo work?

  1. Access BeauCoo from your iphone or android, or from their website and sign up for an account!
  2. Create your profile — enter your chest, waist, and hip measurements, write a sassy profile and upload a profile pic — don’t worry! All of your measurements are kept confidential.
  3. Use the websiteto explore looks {I find it easier than using a mobile device — see more pics at once!}
  4. “like” looks to tell people you love what they’re rockin’
  5. “want” looks you might want to try later {both “likes” and “wants” are saved to your profile}
  6. Upload and share your own looks using your mobile device, so easy you can do it from anywhere!

Also cool: You can filter looks by “fit” and BeauCoo will only show you users who have similar measurements — a super easy way to access people with the same body type. Be prepared for TONS of inspiration!

You can find me, like all social media sites, on BeauCoo as katefranco. I’m on a tear and have already uploaded a ton of looks.

On: The Hunt

by Kate Franco on August 8, 2013 · 5 comments

I’ve been playing around with a new {to me} site lately — The Hunt — and I think it is going to be GREAT for my Pinterest addiction. One of my gripes about Pinterest is the amount of content out there that isn’t linked to the original source. This is an issue for a number of reasons, but selfishly, it makes it harder for me to shop. I spot something I love and then I cannot, for the life of me, easily get to a place where I can just click the buy button.

The Hunt fixes that.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I offer a service called Outfit Hunter, and I know my way around the Internet, but The Hunt is just such a cool concept:

Upload a picture of the product you’re looking for and The Hunt community will find it!

Essentially, you can crowdsource your shopping quest to find a specific item or a look for less. So. Cool. You can even start a hunt right from your Pinterest board.

This growing community, with a quarter of a million active users no less,will help you just for the sake of helping you.It’s a truly altruistic experience, something that can be hard to find these days.Also, I like delving to the deep corners of the web to find elusive products that people thought were lost and gone forever — a challenging and rewarding experience.

Refinery 29 is calling it a global community of “sartorial hunters and gatherers” and I couldn’t agree more.Use The Hunt to search for recipes, home decor, beauty how-to’s and more. Mobile? Try the iPhone app that just launched! If you decide to try it out, let me know. You can find me {as always} as Kate Franco.
