I’ve been searching high and low for a knockout kimono lately. I’m also trying to save some cash. When I got this scarf, because of its size, my imagination went wild with all the different ways to wear it. And then, right before I fell asleep last night I had an epiphany: YOU CAN MAKE A SCARF INTO A KIMONO guys, for real!
…So that’s what I did.
How to turn your scarf into a kimono:
- Lay the scarf on the floor and take the bottom corners and fold them upward and inward to create a trapezoid shape {when was the last time you thought about a trapezoid? Yeah, me neither.} See janky image below for reference.
- Take two small safety pins and pin the corners of the scarf into place
This creates two “armholes” that you can put your arms through, creating a cape-like effect. To make it look more like a kimono, I draped some of the extra fabric over my arms like you would a shawl or a wrap. Voila! Instakimono.
I love that this Lone Ranger scarf from Theodora & Callum scarf feels effortless, and even though its got a lot of pink in it, it reads as a neutral tone. Casual and perfect for summer, this is one of my very favorite outfits in a long time.
