Little Lessons on a Tuesday

by Kate Franco on January 11, 2011 · 10 comments

  1. I made the best breakfast I have ever made in my whole life on Sunday. And I kind of just threw it together…an egg casserole/bake kind of thing. Can you tell I’m not a recipe writer by trade? But that’s how I made it, I swear!
  2. I have a new favorite place.
  3. Feeling super inspired by Marie Antoinette hair & the pair of accent chairs sitting at the Salvation Army I walk by each morning. The hair…it’s about the volume I think. And the lack of perfection. The chairs just have SO much potential.
  4. I am really stressing about not having anything to wear to an engagement party this weekend. Funny because 1. people don’t believe that I don’t have anything to wear and 2. it doesn’t really matter what I wear…because it’s not about me!
  5. I have attempted to make good on my 2011 goal of enjoying home brewed coffee & BOTH days this week I’ve left my completely full mug sitting on my vanity. grrrrrr.
  6. Eyeliner makes me feel fancy. {you fancy, huh}
  7. I went on a HUGE country music downloading spree last week. Man, did I get some good stuff. The Judds, Brooks & Dunn, Clay Walker, Randy Travis…the list goes on & on. DON’T hate on my love of country, people! It runs deep.
  8. Currently sitting on my nightstand: totally used candle and lighter, a “hot mess” glass, extra strength tylenol, a thermometer, two bobby pins, a flash drive, and Neosporin. I’m not sick…that’s just totally normal. Or, I’m just normally sick? Unclear.
  9. Realizing that pretty much the rest of my January is booked solid & I’m not sure when I became the kind of person who has to book things a month in advance. That is not the bizness.
  10. I secretly resolved to stop getting all of my news from twitter, facebook, google reader, etc. {I also figure that the whole current events thing will help with small talk.} The CNN iphone app has been awesome. Caveat: Getting news in bullet point form leaves a lot of holes in the storyline. Example: After the tragic shooting in Arizona this past weekend I was left wondering why the Judge and Congresswoman were at the supermarket together. Affair??? I wondered. UM. Sad, but true.*

*Note: not intended to poke fun at this tragic event…just my own stupidity.

I’m resolving to read more news too — I’m always lost about current events! But that’s probably because I get all of my news from the E! network.

Ha! I used to do that all the time – leave my full travel mug on my vanity, kitchen counter, table by the front door… Pretty much anywhere in my apartment. Generally I’d remember right as the bus would arrive to take me to work or school.

Terribly frustrating, lol.

um yeah. Remembered the coffee this morning, but left breakfast sitting on the kitchen counter. Not sure if that exactly counts as a win…

I really need to stop reading your little lessons on a tuesday while at work, because i just started laughing out loud at half of them, and now my coworkers think i’m crazy.

or just even crazier than i was. but the “you fancy, huh” made me burst out laughing. you are hilarious.

ps. i need new country songs, and think you should do a post about what you downloaded so i can copy that. kkthanks. 🙂

I just found your blog this week, I can’t remember how, but I agree, I saw yours and thought… blog soulmate?

And thank you! I just got my blog redesigned by the lovely Alaina of Live Creating Yourself…

#6: eyeliner is totes fancy.
#8: the nightstand is always a weird repository: mine has a book, bucket of cat toys (in case she’s being annoying in the middle of the night so I can throw one at her and distract her), advil, knitting needles (no yarn), hydrocortisone, and two half full glasses of water. ridic.
#9: jealous you only have january booked. july 2011 has been booked since october 2010, no joke.

Oh the joy of being over booked, yowza. My night stand is an interesting place as well… I just started getting a subscription for The Week and I really like it so far, quick and covers a lot of what happens in current events, hopefully it helps me keep in touch with the world.

Thank you so so so much for stopping by TCB! I love your blog. You right in such a conversational style which I love. Also if you need “real” news help I used to work at CNN! haha!
