Little Lessons on a Tuesday

by Kate Franco on March 15, 2011 · 6 comments

  1. Don’t forget to recharge your batteries every once in awhile. Know your limits & know that it’s okay to say no.
  2. Like the rest of America, loving the new Adele album. I’ve been listening to it on repeat! {and so have my neighbors apparently…because I can hear it…}
  3. I shop online when I’m bummed out, it’s cathartic for me. On the upside, I’m looking forward to my new Emerson Made Necklace and Brooklyn Thread bracelets {30×30 made me want to get rid of all my accessories! Out with the old! In with the new!}
  4. A long time ago someone told me that I was graceful beyond other women of my age. And that grace generally comes with age. I think I might be losing that as I get older. {Of course I would be backwards!}
  5. I’m thinking about going to church on Sunday. First time in a long time, and I’m looking forward to it.
  6. Fun fact: I used to not believe in crying. Crying= waste of time.
  7. 2 truths: I’ve always cried at the drop of a hat when it comes to tv or movies. Turns out I just cry a lot in general now, but I always feel better after I do.
  8. Between painting my own nails and sticking by my 2011 goal of learning to appreciate regular coffee, I am saving approximately $120/month. Wowzer.
  9. Best. Article. Ever. {see where all the good men have gone.}
  10. I still have all my student IDs from high school and college. Minus one, because a boy took it for posterity or something.

I recently lost my college ID… but still have my high school ID. It was taken on a senior pep rally day, so I have crimped hair & am wearing neon yellow plastic overalls….

love this.

read the article on where all the men have gone (expecting it to tell me exactly that) and found *why* the men had gone. turns out it’s all women’s fault? because we’ve grown too successful? i dunno about that…

Us CW Golden Eagles battled the Bullard Knights regularly.

I’m with Dara on the Good Men article. The author’s a little bitter. Also, who says that the characters on Seinfeld or Sex and the City aren’t adults? They sleep around, they have disposable income, sure. But monogamy and poverty don’t equal maturity, as is proven by married man-boy sitcoms like King of Queens or Everybody Loves Raymond. They’re just bored and depressed, not any more “adult.”
Okay, I’m not saying that actually proves anything. It’s TV. But Kay Hymowitz (article author) started it. 🙂

Please tell me that the boy who took your ID for posterity was Tyler Baucher (sorry – myspace reference – still hilarious – http://www.myspace.com/katefranco).
