Little Lessons on a Tuesday

October 6, 2010 · 11 comments

  1. I’ve been working overtime to finish a project I’ve been procrastinating on {bad kate}, but in that process I’ve also caught up on all the shows I’ve been shamefully behind on {project runway, mad men, rachel zoe project}
  2. I have a soft spot in my heart for Tim Gunn.
  3. Without fail, I get jury duty EVERY YEAR. Out of the hundreds of thousands of people that live in SF, how does this happen? Someone, please explain. It’s every 12 months like clockwork!
  4. Just adore this outfit from Streets and Stripes {top right}. Don’t you think it’s a little Alice?
  5. I wish I could get up early enough to have a cup of tea every morning. Loving my new John Derian mugs {along with Twinings Black Current Breeze, which I can’t find anywhere in SF & my mom is kind enough to stock up on for me.}
  6. I am at a pretty major fork in the road, and I have to make some decisions by this weekend. {oh lists, how I love you so}
  7. Tip from Megan: Vectomega is the THE KEY to growing your hair out. Trust me ladies, you won’t be disappointed. I’m about to get some myself! {my hair stylist suggested extensions the last time I was in and I LOVE the idea, but don’t love the idea of $$$ and more maintenance on my already pretty high maintenance hair.}
  8. My new official motto is: shape up or ship out. Just about me needing to step up to the plate. In life. Not in one area in particular. {sports metaphor? we can thank dad for that one.}
  9. Annoying, persistent cough just will not go away. {it’s been seriously 3 weeks.} So. Gross. Suggestions on how to remedy this?
  10. 10 year reunion: fun, interesting, crazy, or lame?
  11. I am becoming notorious for making edits to posts after they’ve already been published.

I LOVE TIM GUNN. LOVE HIM.
also, try black tea with milk. It’s a very British thing and I got introduced to it by my Scottish friends, but it’s so comforting. When the weather is chilly I start craving it. Plain milk, not cream.

I’ve been on the Vectomega train for a while! The trouble is that my eyebrows grow faster too…ugh.

Re: Jury duty. I think that so few people actually GO, that once they know you’ll show up, they tag you every year.

Isn’t it illegal to NOT go? (look at me, little rule follower!)

Yes, I think so, but people can defer for financial reasons, etc. I learned the hard way too!

I love shape up or ship out. Almost every day I find myself saying inside my head – ‘when you know what you want to do with the rest of your life, the rest of your life should start as soon as possible.’ This applies to all things, I find. Want a new career? Then do it and stop talking about it. Want to commit to someone/something/new city/more time with family? Stop lamenting and start your life! I’m not perfect at it, but the ‘shape up or ship out’ has helped me tackle life more each day. Good luck!!
