Make Your Own Juice

photo 2 (1)I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: juicing has totally changed my life. I went from being a really sick person to a pretty healthy one. Of course there were other factors involved in that transition, but I can’t advocate the juice thing enough; I feel like I’m finally living a “normal” life. Since the original miracle juice post I’ve modified and added some more juices to my repertoire.

JUICE 1:
  • 1/2 head a lettuce
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Pear
  • 1 Lemon {peeled}
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1/2-2/3 of Cucumber
JUICE 2:
  • Bunch of kale and/or chard
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Pear
  • 1 Lemon {peeled}
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 stalk of Celery
  • Optional: 1 cup of Grapes
JUICE 3
  • 1/2 Beet
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon {peeled}
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 stalk Celery
  • 1/2 Bunch of Spinach
JUICE 4
  • 1/2 Pineapple
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Pear
  • 1/2 Beet
  • 3 Carrots
  • 1/2 Lemon {peeled}
  • 1 inch Ginger
JUICE 5
  • 2 Oranges {peeled}
  • 1/2 Pineapple
  • 1 Pear or Apple
  • Head of Kale
  • Optional: Basil or garlic
Pro Tips:
  • Garlic is a great addition to any juice, but use it sparingly. I usually use 1 small clove if I’m adding it in and I add it to my juice just a couple times a week. Garlic is so potent that it can actually seep out of your pores…no thanks!
  • Unless you  have a fancy commercial juicer or one specifically for citrus, I follow this rule of thumb: if you’d peel it before you’d eat it, peel it before you juice it. Easy enough.
  • Use a little caution with the beets. In high quantities they can lead to liver toxicity.
  • Basil and Orange is a fantastic combo.
  • I am super partial to juice #4 lately. I’ve been making it a ton!

I’m so stoked about this post!!! Can’t wait to try ‘em!

Also, I didn’t know that about beets. I used to eat soooo many! I guess I’m lucky I didn’t toxify my liver!

Dear Kate,

That second one is a staple in my juicing recipes. Juicing has helped me become a much healthier Gluten-Free Vegan. I can jam in a lot of the essential nutrients I need, without compensating my diet or my health. Juicing rocks.

Love, Kate from Clear the Way

P.S. I just came across your blog on Bloglovin and I’m so glad I did. I’m following you now.
