OOTD featuring Stylemint, Catherine Malandrino, Free People & ZaraSexy + cozy? Not an intuitive combination, and yet, something about it really works for me. I’ve been wearing the hell out of these over the knee boots ever since I got them on Poshmark for a steal. {Are you ready for this? Your mind is going to be blown.}

REAL LEATHER…
NEW IN BOX…
$120 ORIGINAL PRICE…
I paid a WHOPPING $35

Did I mention I feel powerful and a little dangerous when I wear them?

Other noteworthy items: rockin’ the center part, which is pretty unusual for me and I’m pretty much head to toe in Poshmark. The leather panel skirt is currently for sale in my closet!

With all the monochrome/solids I’ve been rocking lately, it seems like these shoes just GO WITH EVERYTHING. And they’re perfect for hoofing it around the city while still looking stylish. Important.

Tip:

If you’re feeling a little shy about animal prints, starting with an accessory or a small element, like a shoe, is a great way to get your toes wet {figuratively speaking, of course}.

Here’s something totally random and off topic for you: I’ve been sad about how the personal stories and anecdotes I used to share here have been phased out over time, replaced by lots and lots of #OOTDs. Have you been missing them too? Did you read my blog way back when?

Little Lessons was a series I wrote for years, and it got phased out because I got burnt out. Little Lessons started to feel hard, mundane and repetitive; I wasn’t excited to write it. And more than any other type of post I’ve done, it ended up feeling like a chore. With perspective, I think the reality is that anything you do for that period of time might start to feel that way. Maybe I’ve OD’d on outfit posts for the exact same reason.

The point is, loves, that the very thing I loathed, I now long for. So, I’m not sure in what incarnation, but I’ll be bringing some more personal touches to this neck of the woods. And of course, you can always follow along via twitter and instagram for real-time thoughts and experiences. xox.

Good Grammar is Sexy

red plaid midi skirt + graphic teered plaid midi skirt + graphic teeGood Grammar is Sexy teered plaid midi skirt + good grammar is sexy graphic teered plaid midi skirt + good grammar is sexy graphic teeThis skirt has been on constant rotation since I got it in December. The cotton is so thick that it’s like flannel and it’s perfect for chillier days — especially when paired with boots and a leather jacket. As far as I’m concerned, I could wear this every day and feel happy. Plus, there’s just something so ladylike about a skirt and boots. Ladylike without being too girly, you know what I mean?

Paired with the nerdy {and I like it} tee, I think I might coin this look Alexander McQueen’s naughty librarian, or something of the sort. Dig it? Make sure you check out some of my favorite midi skirt + graphic tee combos, below.

Vintage Louis Vuitton + My Thoughts on Abercrombie

23 January 2014

If you had told me any time prior to last month that Abercrombie would at some point make an appearance on this blog, I would have laughed in your face. There are a million reasons why Abercrombie “isn’t me” but most certainly because I am a fashion for every woman kind of gal. It’s old […]

Cable Knit Sweater + Heart Tights

21 January 2014

If I had it to do all over again, I’d probably simplify this look. Too many components not only make it hard to photograph, but also make it feel chaotic. Your eye isn’t quite sure what to rest on. I do love how this look is feminine without being girly. The heart tights, even though […]
