This year, I’m really excited to be teaming up with Lingering Daydreams to style looks for specific events for the blog’s {CELEBRATE} series. This month’s event is an Oscars Party, and the theme is Red Carpet Casual, or as I like to call it, Casual Glam. The whole idea of the look is pairing the two contrasting concepts together to create a cohesive outfit.
As soon as I was presented with the challenge, I knew I wanted to get Lila into a sequin maxi skirt. It’s a fun piece that I knew she would never go for on her own. We got lucky and scored this one on Piperlime at a major discount. The matte gold sequins were perfect. It IS a lot of look, but the muted gold keeps it in check. I built the outfit from there, keeping baby-proofing in mind. Lila is now a mom to a 12 week old! Can you believe how great she looks? Hot mama. FOR SURE.
Additional elements include: combat boots instead of heels for practicality and a little edge. A soft t-shirt that’s comfortable for mom and baby. And hair out of the face — the updo is elegant and refined to match the glam of the skirt. And of course, you know an outfit doesn’t have my seal of approval without some kind of layered jewelry.
The budget for the look was $75 and we spent almost all of it on the skirt. The rest of the pieces were sourced from Lila’s existing wardrobe.
