Little Lessons on a Tuesday

by Kate Franco on September 13, 2011 · 9 comments

  1. It appears that revisiting my 20 in 2011 list last week kind of lit a fire under my a**. Crossed off the list this week: donate clothes and take a class. I’m about to get all HTML/CSS up in this WordPress business!
  2. I went shopping with my mom this weekend and helped her get out of her fashion rut! We picked some things that were definitely outside the comfort zone including an olive green handbag {absolutely gorgeous + a little bit of a splurge!} and a silver feather cuff.
  3. Olive btw, is my favorite new neutral for fall. I also have a feeling I’m going to be into a bold red lip.
  4. You can probably safely say that I was feeling a little guilty about the clothes I bought recently. I did a major closet purge this weekend and came up with 2 bags worth of stuff to donate. Including taking my hoodie collection down from 8 to 5. {Yes, it’s true. I wear hoodies. Lots of them, apparently.}{I parted with 1 of 2 SCU sweatshirts, a giant orange surf sweatshirt that has sentimental value, and one from a fraternity ball in 2003.}
  5. Candy Corn is in season! Yes!
  6. Can someone help me understand the appeal of cake balls? Is it because they’re bite size? Seems like they wouldn’t be nearly as delicious.
  7. Secret notes are the best.
  8. I am not cut out to be a teacher. I will say that I think I’ve done okay on patience so far this week, though. I could still definitely see myself telling kids to go suck it if they don’t like something.
  9. I’ve been struggling to keep Yoga and Pilates in my routine. Once I got sick it went out the window, and it’s been hard to get it back. Most of the time it seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day. Any tips from other full-time-workers-devoted-bloggers-worker-outers out there?
  10. I definitely feel my most creative when I’m a happy girl. I’ve got visions of a new quilt swimming in my head.

I didn’t get cake balls either… until I ate one – the cake is mixed with ICING!!!! That’s why it sticks together. My friend made them and I sat there and ate the cake ball batter (crumbled cake plus icing) straight from a bag 🙂

Olive and red lip? Sounds like a gorgeous combo. I’m going back into working out properly, too, so please share any advice you get!

Yes to olive. But I’m also loving that mint+olive post you linked to.

your little lessons always make me happy! side note: working out while full time, and blogger is a HARD combo. I get up early to go run (training for a 1/2 marathon)and yes, it does suck, but I know at the end of the day I’d rather be enjoying a nice glass of red while watching E! hahaha..

#8- HILARIOUS!!! Story of my life! I did tell a 5 year old today (who was upset about the recent meshing of the yellow and white play-doh) to get past it and move on (which he did when an opening at Mr. Potato Head became available) It was 2:45 pm, “Ms. Froggins” had reached maximum capacity of patience by then.

On the working out bit…it gets really hard especially when you’d rather be napping. But you can do it! Just make it a priority…it’s your health. 🙂

This post has me so excited for fall. Expecially shopping for new clothes and make-up! I love the idea of olive and yes, I’ve heard that red and also nude lip colors are in for this fall.

I stick to workout routines best when I have a workout buddy! And remember it’s generally okay to workout if your sickness is from the neck up. Working out while sick can actually speed up your recovery. But below the neck is a no-go. Good luck! You can do it!
