Some of you mentioned how, um, cryptic some of my little lessons have been. {@heysuburban, I’m lookin’ at you!} For the last month or so I have be struggling with a decision, and now it’s official: I’m moving!
It was such big decision because I am comfortable in my current life. I’m not really into the whole change thing, and so to willingly change my comfortable life seems like maybe more than I could deal with. In the end, I realized that it is going to improve my quality of life, even if there are some obstacles that seem challenging.
Pros:
- HUGE beautiful space
- HUGE closet and decent size bedroom {i.e. I wouldn’t have to get rid of a ton of stuff because the available space is so large. Closet is big enough for all my stuff. So key.}
- Sun room that I can use for sewing {!!!}
- Fun roomies
- Cuts my living expenses by 50% {you read that right. just call me sugar mama kate}
- Close to public transport, walgreens, safeway, etc.
Cons:
- Not centrally located {means a longer commute & that I’m less likely to meet people out after work, since getting home will be a pain}
- I haven’t lived with roommates in almost 3 years. {BIG change, there. Kind of step back in terms of life?}
- Crohn’s. Enough said.
So, in the end, I am giving up my independent lifestyle and cute studio for roommates {including a sweet little dog named Andie} and a better quality of life. {Hello, new wardrobe and a trip to Paris! I see you in my future.}
Where am I moving, you ask? To a lovely flat in the Mission District of SF. Will I become a hipster, you wonder? The answer to that friends, is no. I will be living with the lovely Logan & Lindsey and enjoying ample space, sunlight, and my new zigzag rug. {yes! it finally came!} Plus, you know how I like re-decorating.

That is super exciting Kate! ya!!
I will totally come to your hood for happy hour!
Let me know if you need help moving. I’m a super super good box packer!
maybe we’ll have a box packing party! (ani, that goes for you too!)
Eat a burrito or 2 for those of us back East – the land of “where did all the delicious, cheap, giant burritos go?”
“Will I become a hipster?” Haha you’re too funny.
I don’t consider myself a hipster but I do love sitting in Dolores Park. I’m in Sacramento only an hour-ish away; we should hang out 🙂
Very exciting! Congrats! I lived in the Mission for a little over a year and it was amazing. Lot’s of energy and SUN!

Super exciting news! Is it okay that I totally just fell in love with your blog? Congrats on the new space. I too lived alone, but traded in my tiny little apartment for a beautiful house with two roommates. It’s worth it until I can afford to buy my own home <33
