Layering tip of the day: try wearing a shirt or a sweater OVER a dress for a cozy and casual look. Love the coziness of this wrap. I’m pretty sure I’ll wear it ALL winter!
Bonus tip: if you’re scared of layering being TOO much look for you, try variegating one color. This outfit is pretty much shades of gray except for the shoes and the wrap. Tights = slate gray, Dress {worn as skirt} = charcoal gray, t-shirt = heather gray. Winning!

love layering t-shirts over dresses in the summer evenings. I’ll have to do it more in the winter!
I love this! You look great.
I love layering but am a little on the heavy side & don’t want to look like I’m trying to, like, hide my body in layers. I mean, I AM trying to hide it, but… you know, I don’t the layers to make me look BIGGER. I don’t know if you’ll have many tips, as you’re tiny yourself, but I thought that, as a stylist, you might have some ideas for plus-size ladies like me!
Heck yes! I think the most helpful advice I can give is to NOT be afraid of tighter clothes (i.e. skinny jeans, leggings, bodysuits (okok bodysuits might be a little bit much, even for my “everything goes” disposition!))
I’ve styled some plus-size clients, and starting with a base layer that is body conscious is one of the best decisions you can make. Then, if you throw other layers on top, you still have that figure and shape, with the coverage you desire.
My final tip is to swear by belts. If you put them at your skinniest point it will accentuate your thinness and draw attention to that focal point.
Hope that helps!
I love how you use a skinny belt with a top that’s a bit bulky, that’s a great way to bring it all together 🙂
You look great! I love this idea 🙂
Thanks for the feedback guys! I’ve been looking ALL OVER for something like this and finally got lucky!
